Wheel Blacks & the Covid-19 Challenge

NZ Wheelchair Rugby self funds all aspects of our sport. We are an organisation built on volunteerism and generosity of the NZ community. You can keep supporting NZ Wheelchair Rugby and the Wheel Blacks future sporting goals - post Covid-19 here.

Our National Wheelchair Rugby team, namely the Wheel Blacks, goal is to represent New Zealand on the world stage. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the revised date of 24 August – 5 September 2021 has been set for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics to take place.

Having this date offers our Wheel Blacks team the opportunity to reset and fill the qualification spot at the Tokyo Paralympics. The Wheel Blacks have been working toward this for many years and will not let Covid-19 distract them from their goal. See a video of the Wheel Blacks in Korea for the 2019 Qualifier..

Covid-19 has impacted every New Zealander, for NZ Wheelchair Rugby we are unable to run our usual fundraising campaigns due to social distancing. However, with community support via our Give-a-little page, NZ Wheelchair Rugby can continue planning the positive future of our sport. When New Zealand and the world is safe, we will be ready to offer regular domestic and international opportunities for our members, players, coaches, ref’s and support staff to engage in wheelchair rugby - as we have done since 2009.

NZ Wheelchair Rugby thanks you for supporting our sport via the Give-a-little page.
