Stampede League 2019

Stampede League starts soon!

Join us for four Monday nights of fun Wheelchair Rugby action.
You are welcome to enter, we always have lots of fun and it’s a great chance to develop your rugby. This event is part of the Parafed Waikato ACTIV8 series and hopes to build on the successful tournament we had last year.

  • Players will enter as individuals and will be placed into teams to compete for the ACTIV8 trophy.

  • Games will be played from 6-8pm at Fairfield College, Bankwood Road, Hamilton.

  • Players must be able to attend all game nights, or let me know and we’ll try to arrange some cover.

  • Date: 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th of September 2019.

  • Cost: Free

  • Entries close 3rd of September but let me know as soon as you can!

How long have you been involved with the Wheel Blacks?
I first made the team in 2013.

What do you love about wheelchair rugby?
I love the contact and getting to travel the world.

Which team do you look forward to playing the most and why?
I look forward to playing any team.

What’s your best memory with the Wheel Blacks?
Doing my rookie run in South Africa, I had to dress up in a banana costume and go to the supermarket to buy some bananas.

Who is the funniest teammate?
I'll say it’s Gav even though Cody thinks he's the funniest, but he's just funny looking.

If you could be another player for a week who would it be and why?
Probably Cody, just cause I want to know what it feels like being tiny.

Favourite movie?
Love and Basketball.

Favourite song genre?
R&B, reggae and old skool.

Favourite food?
Anything Tishalicious makes.

What is your pre game routine?
Listen to some good sounds.

How long have you been involved with the Wheel Blacks?
About a year and a half. 

What do you love about wheelchair rugby?
It’s an intense, strategic game which I love playing. The awesome team of people make it that much better.

Which team do you look forward to playing the most and why?
Every team. I’m fresh to the international game so any team is just as exciting.

What’s your best memory with the Wheel Blacks?
Putting in the hard work at camps where everyone is satisfied with the performance.

Who is the funniest teammate?
Gavin comes out with some great comments.

If you could be another player for a week who would it be and why? 
Hayden. Would love to be able to generate that much momentum for a hit.

Favourite movie?
Inception.

Favourite song genre?
Anything from drum and base to chill acoustic beats.

Favourite food?
Sushi.

What is your pre game routine?
Clear the head, get warm, get psyched.

USA because they’re tough competitors.

Ending up in Christiania in Copenhagen.

Gav cause he’s random.

Gav because he’s inspirational.

Wheel Blacks head to Australia

The NZ High Performance team set off today to compete in the Australian Nationals, keep your eye out for the “Vero NZ Wheel Blacks” on the competition schedule. The Coaching Team and Wheel Blacks have been focusing on their journey to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, this tournament will provide a good opportunity to test the plans that have been put in place so far.

Each of the Australian state sides have a sprinkling of Australian representatives from the current ranked number one side in the world. These will be strong state teams and tough games for the Vero NZ Wheel Blacks to test the metal on - What could be better!

The Wheel Blacks facebook page will be livestreaming the Vero NZ Wheel Blacks team games. The full tournament will be livestreamed at www.wheelchairrugby.com.au/live

Discussing the merits of rhubarb crumble at dinner.

Hayden...so I could deliver massive hits, throw the length of the court and have great hair!

Do some solid two-on-two, offensive & defensive plays...get all fired up so I hit the court switched on.
