How long have you been involved with the Wheel Blacks?
I have been involved with the Wheel Blacks since 2015, debuting against Australia.
What do you love about wheelchair rugby?
I love being involved in a team again. Wheelchair rugby is such a physical but technical game you have to always be at your best. Plus we get to travel all over the world to play - that is something I have no issues with.
Which team do you look forward to playing the most and why?
Honestly, I just look forward to playing any team, just get me on court! But if I did have to pick one it would be Australia as they are number 1 in the world and one day I want it to be New Zealand to take the top spot.
What’s your best memory with the Wheel Blacks?
My best memory with the Wheel Blacks would definitely be going to Switzerland to play 8 strong international teams. We had to place 4th or better to qualify for world champs in Sydney later that year. We got 2nd that tournament and I ended up coming away with MVP of the entire tournament, so it was a good memory from a team and a personal aspect.
Who is the funniest teammate?
Oh definitely Gavin the straight line specialist Rolton - you just never know whats going to come out of his mouth and I do enjoy that.
If you could be another player for a week who would it be and why?
Hayden Barton-Cootes - have you seen that man hit?!!! Like I hit hard but him, you could almost go as far as saying people avoid making contact with him on court. So yeah I’d like to be feared by other teams. He has cool hair too and big muscles, you better want to be me too H.
Honestly, I just cant go past Pirates of the Caribbean , Game of Thrones if we talking TV shows though…
Favourite song genre?
If it sounds good, I’ll listen to it. No specific genre for me.
Jess makes some pretty mean Nachos.
What is your pre game routine?
I’m usually the designated DJ before games so not much of a routine but I make sure I've always got tunes lined up - the songs may not be everyone’s cup of tea though haha.
Your shout out?
Love to give a big shout out to my partner Jess, my family and friends. The Rugby Foundation for your on going support since my accident. Tyler at Peak Performance Centre always keeping me in shape. Concept 2 for coming to the the party supporting me in my aspirations to go Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. Thanks guys.
