The WRC's were well supported by the regions, volunteers and spectators. A total of 34 games were played over two weekends. The New Zealand Defence Force Invictus Wheelchair Rugby Team were invited to play in the tournament as a build up to the World Invictus Games in Sydney, Australia October 20-27. The Invictus team were able to play competitively, with official results showing a scoreline of 1-0 to their opposition due to the differing rules for Invictus Games to the IWRF rules that the WRC’s follow.
