I welcome athletes, officials and supporters to the 2006 New Zealand Rugby Foundation Wheelchair Rugby Championships. A new format tried last year in WRC 1 was deemed so successful after evaluations were returned to the NZWR committee in 2005, that it was decided to introduce the “bash” format to all three rounds in 2006.
Six provincial sides will battle for National pride on one day of each round whilst the “bash” format will be used on the other day. I will take this opportunity to thank all regions for their punctual return of WRC registrations. This allows the NZWR head coach time to select “bash” teams, me to do a draw early enough to allow regions a window of time to organize travel. My apologies for not getting the draw out earlier.
I wish the participating teams the best of luck and know that players, officials, supporters and spectators will enjoy some great Rugby over the next few months.
